The series of trainings "Natura 2000 – the Natural Capital" in the Natura 2000 site Ostoja Żyznów PLH260036

The series of trainings "Natura 2000 – the Natural Capital" consisted of six two-day modules on the following topics:

Natura 2000 - a positive inspiration;
Ecotourism – an opportunity for development of the region / Renewable Energy Sources – why should we use them?;
Agritourism and local product - quality confirmed by brand of Natura 2000;
Fundraising – you have a good idea, but how to achieve your goal?;
Law and land use in Natura 2000 areas issues;
Ostoja Żyznów - a place for man, a place for Nature.

The trainings conducted within the project "Natura mission", were directed mainly to the representatives of local authorities, NGOs, entrepreneurs, as well as other persons and entities interested in the development of their region on the basis of the potential of the Natura 2000 network. For each module experts from a particular field were invited.

During the first meeting the Natura 2000 program was discussed and the most important information on conservation measures plans were presented as well as basic information on nature of the Ostoja Żyznów site. The issue of sustainable development and why it is crucial to replace the policy of unlimited growth with it was disscussed as well as the coherence of the Natura 2000 network. The second day was devoted to communication and the role of conflict and mediation in disputes related to the development of conservation measures plans of Natura 2000 sites. It was conducted by a specialist in social mediation and communication, Marzenna Nowakowska.

The first day of the second meeting concentrated on the subject of eco-tourism as a chance for development of the region. Jakub Pełka discussed the possibilities of development of eco-tourism in the region and tried to answer the question what to do in order to boost tourism in Ostoja Żyznów Natura 2000 site. The second day training focused on renewable energy sources. It was conducted by an expert in the field - Darius Gazurek.

The third training focused on issues related to the regional products, and how to use them in order to develop local economic activities, such as agritourism. The training was conducted by an expert in the field - Mrs Olga Gałek from the Foundation of Active People and Places. A number of examples of local products and the history associated with them were discussed.

The fourth training, which partly took the form of workshops, was led by Joanna Kica (European Advisory Studio). In the beginning the operational programs and expected changes in the new financial perspective for 2014-2020 were discussed. Then the participants of the training practiced preparing particular parts of a project.

The fifth training was conducted by prof. Zbigniew Bukowski from the Kazimierz Wielki University, Department of Administrative Law and Environmental Law. Prof. Bukowski discussed, among other topics, environment protection in international law, European Union law and Polish law, public access to information about Natura 2000 sites, Natura 2000 sites in national planning documents. It was met with a great interest. Then Aleksandra Stępień from the Association "Miasto Moje A W Nim" discussed the problem of degradation of tourist spots by different forms of advertisement.

The last in the series of trainings "Natura 2000 – the Natural Capital" was conducted by several specialists. On the first day of the training Joanna Przybylska from the Society for Research and Nature Conservation talked about the habitats and species which are protected in the Ostoja Żyznów Natura 2000 site. Then the participants of the training took part in a field trip in the Natura 2000 site, led by Ms Przybylska, during which they could see the subjects of protection. On the second day Dariusz Kraszewski conducted the workshop on community participation in nature conservation.
At the end of the series of trainings, all participants received the certificates of completion.
